My current prop is ok, but I need to buy a spare prop. If the new prop runs better than the current one, then I would like to put the current prop on backup duty. The boat has plenty of grunt for takeoff right now and plenty of top end. I wouldn't want to lose any bottom end, but I don't mind losing some top speed.
1) Performance issue you are trying to correct.
Boat runs fine. We wakeboard alot, and it can be a little difficult to maintain proper wakeboarding speed (about 20 mph per speedo). My primary concern is ventilation. No ventilation during takeoff, but there is a decent amount of ventilation if I turn the boat hard.
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless and as a minimum.
No manufacturer listed on the prop (that I could see). It is an aluminum 3 blade prop. Based on what I've seen with how the previous owner used the boat, it could well be the factory prop.
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required).
14 1/2 and 19
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)
WOT is 49 mph (per speedo) with RPMS at 4500 or so, with just 250 lbs of passengers. If the boat is loaded up with 4 adults and 5 kids (say 1000 lbs or so), performance only drops off slightly to 47 or 48 mph and just slightly lower RPMS.
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP
1999 Volvo 5.7 PEFS with a Volvo SX Cobra outdrive (1.51 ratio)
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight
2000 Larson 234 Escape (deckboat). Dry weight (per spec) is just under 4000 lbs. We usually have 45 gallons of fuel, 10 gallons of water, and probably another 100 lbs of gear, in addition to any people. I would guess that average loaded boat weight is between 4700 lbs and 5500 lbs.
Thanks for any advice on which prop might suit me best!
