I'm fairly new to boating, but just purchased a 2000 Stingray 200 LX. Mercruiser 4.3L V6 w/Alpha one outdrive. Immaculate boat, but the prop was a little beat up. The previous owner had an extra prop. After studying the manual and online, looked like a pretty easy fix, so I removed the old prop, cleaned the prop shaft up re greased everything and when I went to install the new prop, I noticed that it is not made the same. the prop fits great, but this one doesn't seem to use the drive sleeve adapter, or the locking tab washer. It just slides right on the shaft perfectly. When I replaced the nut there is just a lot of excess shaft sticking out past the nut and nothing to hold the nut tight. Is this correct, or should I get another prop??

By what you're describing, the props are not the same and you should be shopping around. Find out what your spare prop is and sell or trade for the correct one.

Good luck!

This prop does work on the Alpha. I was just missing the aft washer. Got that along with a locking washer and new nut and it works. Now I can at least run some trials and figure out what pitch size would work best and get myself a decent ss prop. Thanks
