Hello, I would like some help with choosing a new prop for my boat. I have listed all he info I know in accordance with the sticky:

1. Boat takes awhile to plane out with more than 2 people on board (no trim-tabs) Mid range pull seems sluggish, hole shot is ok.
2. Unsure of prop manufacturer, but has ME 44 09 stamped on it
3. 15X15
4. WOT 4600 RPM with 2 people, 4400 RPM with 5. Speedo is inop but gps says about 30ish MPH. It will hit 4800 RPM if it's trimmed up pretty high.
5. 1995 5.7L Mercruiser with a Alpha One Gen 2 Drive
6. 1995 Glastron SSV 249 24' 4500lbs Dry

Also, I am running the boat full time at a lake with an altitude around 6000ft in Colorado.

Thanks!!

From what I've found online it looks like the standard ratio is 1.47. I could look this weekend to confirm.

I believe there were two other ratios 1:1.62 and 1:81. Right now your rpm, and boat speed and 15" prop are in line with a 1:81 gear set. Your location is considered High Altitude and a 24 ft boat would quite a bit for a 350. I ran those numbers through Mercury prop selector, choosing 4400 and came up with these results

I myself am very partial to the Enertia Props, I have been running one now for 11 yrs. It has good acceleration and good top speed

Ok, great. Thank you for doing that. The boat does seem underpowered, and we are planning to upgrade after his season. I wouldn't be replacing the prop if I didn't have a prop strike on the final trip last summer. Figured I might as well make sure it's the right one. I will look into the Enertia props.
Thanks!

Hi
How much fuel do you run with ?
If it's the boat I think it is, the fuel tank is right to the rear.
Presuming your fuel tank holds about at least 250l....you may find yourself carrying an extra quarter of a ton of weight at the rear of the boat. Basically it costs you fuel to carry fuel !
Unfortunately a lot of the boats in this class are the same.
Perhaps it's not the case, but generally if you don't need to, don't carry much more fuel than you will actually need.
Just a thought.
