Man, I gotta stop doing these...

Ok, ok. We took the "newer" (not newer than my boat, but newer in aqusition) boat out today. It's a Bonita 70's (unsure of year) tri-hull. The floor is mush, the plywood floor they put on TOP of the mush floor is mush, and I think the transom is weak (based on what I saw from today) but still had a good day out (any day is good, right?).

It's got a Johnson 125hp V4 on it. We get out of no-wake, get out in the middle of the lake and the owner of the boat throws out the ski rope, the skis, etc. He gets ready and gives the "Go" signal. We fire it up, it pulls him up and about 10 seconds later the motor just .. quits on us.

One of two things, or maybe a combination. Either the fuel line came unhooked some time, or it was because of the tank vent.

Re-hooked the fuel line, opened the tank vent. And there's no engine power. Turn key = nothing from engine. Its in neutral, and Im sitting on the lake with a dead boat. Bad feeling, btw.

Why was the boat dead? Oh yeah, wiggle the shifter handle. It's older (70's remember?) and the neutral safety switch is weird.

Second trick: Getting into the boat. I'm in the boat, starting to stand up, and a stray wave hits us. I go down - backwards. Hit the cooler with my kidney. OWWWW!! Laid there for a while, everyone around me going "You ok??"

I stand up, make sure everything still works, and jump back in the water. Surprised everyone. If you're going to do it .. do it good, right?
