New Source for Fiberglass Resin?

Good Morning,
Ordered polyester Layup resin and Gelcoat from US Composites last year and it has went WAY UP! Anyone know of a good alternative source for low cost resin?

$121.00 for 5 Gallons of Poly is still a GOOD price. Not sure where you will find one better and still get a quality product.

We both live near a TAP store so there is no shipping. I got a quote to have US Composites ship me all the supplies I needed and it would have been almost double the price with shipping to California.

Also it was only $29.98 a gallon when I bought it there a few months ago

Hey, IM SHAWN T. Have you done a Thorough Check of the Yellow pages there in Wichita for Poly Resin suppliers??? Wichita's a pretty big place, they might have one.

While you're in the yellow pages you can check for hot tub and pool builders. I get my resin from a local company that manufactuers hot tubs.

I googled up these two suppliers in Wichita.
Not sure if they sell to the public or what their prices are but probably cheaper when you consider the shipping costs.

I would Always suggest the upper end of resin ( B-440 Premium Polyester Layup from USC ). Unless your making filler out of the resin.

Why do we pay 4+/gal for gas .. or even More Crazy is when some spend MORE for Water ( a buck a pt. .. lemme see thats 2 pts per/qt .. 4/qts per gal .. um.. thats 1$ x 2pt x 4qt/gal = 8$ for WATER !! lol ).. The bottle that we drink out water costs More than the water itself ..

Its Petrol based.. Resins are derived from OIL.. oil goes up.. cost of resin goes up.

Dont think for a moment that you can get that cheap crap off the shelves of your local hardware stores and expect the resin to React the same way as you get from a Resin supplier ( good stuff ).. trust me on this.. you will cat your resin and BAM !! its your brush in the bucket curing off very quickly..

I don't know what shipping would be to you, but I get my resin from an outfit called Express Composites (Minneapolis, mn). There is a local manufacturer there and the resin is about as fresh as it gets. It's excellent stuff, $125 for 5 gal... However shipping may change the scenereo for you. Would be worth a call though.. Great people and service (it's a Ma and Pa place; actually Father and Daughter and they know their stuff...

Can't give away my hottub supplier as they don't sell to the public. I just have a close friend that works there.....
