Ok, so I ordered the new stator from iBoats! It's here and time to put on. But, I need to know something first.
I am replacing the stator on a 3cyl 1985 85HP force. There are 4 wires (original has 2 yellow and 2 blue) with one of each color going to each (2) CD-Units.
This stator is used on the 2, 3, AND 4 cyl models. I dunno how it is wired on a 2 cyl, but on the 3cyl, the yellow wires each go to a CD-Unit. Being a 3cyl, one of the CD-Units only controls one spark coil. This unit has both wires to the plug, but the blue wire from the stator was spiced with the other blue wire (before the plug). So, both CD-Units have a yellow wire from stator, the Unit controlling 2 coils has a blue wire, the second blue is spliced to the first blue. Hope you understand what I am saying, I am not being very clear. Sorry.... So, is this important? Or does it matter? Thanks!
