New Stelletto Prop hits trim tab??

I just installed my new stelletto advantage stainless prop on my 95 bayliner capri F/S 3.0 Alpha 1 Gen 2.. After installing the prop it hits the trim tab on my lower drive.. Not sure if I should have but I took my Die Grinder and made about a 1 inch semi circle which gives the prop plenty of clearance.. I Loc-Tite'd the bolt into the trim tab and seriously cranked it tight,, no way it's ever gonna move.. Is this a good fix or should I do something else,, I read something about someone else putting in a flat trim tab but I was having terrible steering issues and finally got this tab where it belongs.. Any advise or ideas??

If it clears the prop it's ok.

Your 'fix' should work fine, but if your worried about it, buy an offset trim tab. They sell them right here at iboats. Part # 822777Q1.

I just had the same problem on pretty much the same boat. I tried the offset one, and it still hit. I ran it today without the tab, and did not notice any difference in pull at the wheel.

Thanks,, Like I said I ground out a pretty big hunk to get the prop to clear. I finally took it out in the bay and opened it up,, what a huge difference this SS prop makes,,, the boat jumps outa the hole.. I'm pretty confident my fix will hold but if some day that bolt were to loosen up my ss prop is history.. Thanks again.

Grinding the tab is acceptable. You are doing fine.

All Mercruiser I, Alpha I, and Bravo I sterndrives.

For the Stiletto propellers above with the first digits of "ST103 and ST104" use Quicksilver #13171 thrust washer and Quicksilver Trim Tab No. 46399A1 or AP 4004
