new style coupler is this right

looking into a new coupler I have a 1987 mercruiser 260 h.p. alpha 1 cant find it in manual the research I did tells me its a new style coupler 18643A7 or 18643A5 does anyone know if this is correct. Any advice would help thank you

Be sure you go by your engine serial number.

Thats what he is showing you. They are the same coupler but the one gives you a new input shaft to match an older outdrive the new style coupler.

You need to find your serial number to confirm which one you need...

Go here: http://www.mercruiserparts.com/selectModels3.asp?type_id=8 click on 87, 260. look to see that your engine serial # is within the range shown.Click "crankshaft and flywheel", click on the part # for photo.
