new swim ladder on side?

put a new 3 step telescoping drop down ladder on the side of my wood swim plateform instead of the back. reason being that 1 the side had 2" of teak instead of 1 to mount it to. And often the ramps I go to are not long enough or high enough for me to get off the rear of the boat.

Any negatives to this plan?

Cant think of any....
Just make sure you have good weight balance when boarding.
