Thanks, John

yes its doing the same thing,no spark again.the motor just spins,no fire.I dont know what to do now.Im starting to wish this thing had 7.4's in it!!!Icant afford new power so I will keep pluggin away at it.The thing that kills me is the price of those switch boxes and are the toast now ?

John

You need to buy a DVA(direct voltage adapter) so you can troubleshoot your system. About $40 and works with a standard multimeter. Then you can measure voltage from the coils, stator, and trigger. I just replaced the switchboxes and stator on my 1985 Merc 150, so I here ya on those prices. I went with the CDI/Rapair boxes at $135 ea.,probably the same boxes as yours. Seems like I remember in all my research, while working on my motor, that a bad trigger could blow the boxes. Also bad ground. But, we're just guessing without the testing.

Dave ..
