I purchased a new tack for my boat and it never had one installed from the factory. I was told there is a wire I need to move under the engine cowling. The yellow/gray wire is to be moved to the pole conating the gray wire . Is this correct. My motor is a 1994 90hp evinrude. I also purchased the correct wiring harness for the tack. At the present time there is a plug in below the key switch containing only one wire. The new one has three wires which are black, gray and purple. On the back of the tack there is a place for the ground,12volts and the signal wire. Could you please inform me where I put the wires the purple, gray and the black ones. Thanks in advance folks.

Re: New Tack installation

Purple goes to the ignition switch so it is hot when key is turned on. Black goes to ground.

OOPS, forgot. Gray wire is signal source. It comes from the yellow/gray wire at the rectifier to the signal connection on the tach.
