got boat on trailer, installed the 140 evinrude. tested Wednesday, getting a lot of blow out. went to the recommended 13 3/4 x13 prop, tested today, what a difference, out of the hole in a second. no difference in speed after 3/4 throttle. did a 7 mile run in 11 minutes, that calculates to approx 38 mph. i don't believe it, will test with GPS, this week.

trailer is a 5250 lb rated trailer, such a great difference over the single axle.

Holy crap..my KW with twins will barely hit 41...!

That trailer looked sweet. And a dual axle will surely pull a lot easier as well.

Looks like you might be first pontoon to the trout flats in April!

Tashasdaddy,
Congrats on the outboard and trailer upgrade. WOW!!! 38 mph on a pontoon boat is that scary? Yeah, I am trying to work the bug, hesitation/stalling, issue out of my 70 horsepower Johnson but I believe after studying the carb picture breakdown that I forgot to clean the intermediate jet on all three carbs so hoping when I go back home from deployment I am going to rebuild/thouroughly clean my carbs and make sure I remove all of the jets just not 2 of them. Again, Congrats on your outboard and trailer upgrade. Have a great day. Did you sale your 50 horse you had on there? Take care, Bob

Sounds like a definite nice upgrade. I will be waiting to see the gps results for confirmation of the speed...a true 38 would be even nicer. Did you do anything to strengthen the transom/motor pod? Seems like a 140 is a big motor. I have been considering going bigger on my old Lowe but I worry about the added weight and hp.

Keep us posted :)

this started about 4 months ago. i decided to refurbish the boat. over the time i remove everything off the deck, recarpeted, took the side gate out, and move front rail back, to allow front platform, this makes fishing and docking easier, moved center console, and 30 gal fuel tank, forward, installed swing back sets in aft (backs still to do).

i paid $200 for the new trailer, and sold the other for $400. use the extra $ for upgrades on trailer.

i will get pictures up.
