New Teleflex NFB steering tough to steer at WOT

I recently installed a brand new NFB system on my boat. So far its been great about holding its position while running, and keeping all the vibration away from the helm. But when I get up on a plane it is very hard to turn. When I'm running slow or not in the water, it turns quite freely. Anyone else experience this? Or have any ideas why its doing this?

There is a cautionary note on pg.3 of your instructions that indicates the steering is adversely affected by engine trim. It suggests that you use your trim lightly until fully familiar with the characteristics of the system.

Of course, if you are not using your trim, then this doesn't apply, so call their Tech Support.

Thanks. I'm wondering if the Smartabs I put on are having a negative effect on the steering. I installed both at the same time so I have feel one way or the other. I think I might take the tabs off the next time I go out. I hope its not them since I am getting a nice stable ride out of them. Guess we'll see.

You might want to check the position of your torque tab. It should be at about 1:00 when looking at it from behind the motor...

Is it hard to turn in just one direction, or both? If it's just one direction then the trim tab on your lower unit needs to be adjusted.

I have a dual rack NFB system, and haven't had any issues with it.
