I have bought a 1990 100XP. There is the main fuel hook up and beside that there is another smaller hose which I believe would have been a oil feed. I am new to these motors. Someone has put a nail (gutter spike) into the end of the smaller line which I am assuming someone bypassed the VRO. There is a small wire (2 strand) that comes threw the main wiring harness and hooks to something up by the top of the carb? It is still hooked up but someone has cut it about 2' outside the front of the motor. There is no oil resivoir anywhere. I mixed the fuel in my tank 50:1 thinking it was bypassed. Approx. 1-3 minutes into the engine running I get a alarm intermittent beep pause beep pause ect. I would ask the original owner how he had the rigged biut he has since passed away. Any way I can get this alarm to stop and just mix my own fuel?

There were two sets of alarm wires on the VRO2 pumps, one for the oil tank and one running from the pump to the main harness. Both need to be disconnected when using pre-mixed fuel.

Follow the three or four wire harness from the fuel pump to the amphenol plug and disconnect it there. Tape the plugs so that they can be used later if desired.

Ok dont want to sound retarded but......... Standing in the boat... (top of carb) to the left there is a round thing that has a red little knob that turns not sure what that is and to the is a bigger round unit which Im assuming is the pump. Can u descibe to me where the disconnect would be fom the fuel pump to the other thing u stated. Thanks again

The cylindrical device with the red handle is a primer solenoid. It is a valve that allows pressurized fuel to bypass the carburetors to enrich the fuel/air mix for a cold start. The handle should be aligned with the cylindrical base for normal running. You activate the primer solenoid by pushing in the ignition key.

The fuel pump is much larger: http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/VRO.html

Why don't you just look at your pump?

hehehe, I remember when I first looked at my engine, holy cow, it looked more confusing than my V8.!
Then when I started to understand the individual systems it became simpler and indentifiable.
