I am new here and to boating. Have lots of questions.
First things first. My name is Rick and Im from Lubbock, Texas. I bought a 1970 trihull boat with a 60 hp Johnson motor. I would like to know if there is any way to find out how old this motor is?

Will just start with the one question for now.
Thanks alot,
Rick

Ril..... On the port (left) transom bracket (the bracket that bolts to the boat), there will be a plate with the model and serial number. There should also be a core plug (looks like a small quarter size freeze out plug) on the powerhead with those two numbers. Get the model number to us and we'll pinpoint exactly what you have.

Z-man or anyone else
I take it that the 70 is the year mod # and the 60 is the horse power. Do the other letters mean anything important?
Thanks,
Rick
