This will be my first boat. I put a down payment and am taking it out for a spin. The price is 12,900 for a 00 2050 capri. Is this a good price? The boat looks great.
Getting compression numbers on all 8 cylinders. Hull looks great and same with interior.
Any issues I really need to look at?
The boat will have a 60 day warranty.
Does the price seem high -- It was inline with nada. I did find some on ebay that went for around 7k.

Thanks for any information!!

Boat looks clean -- that boat is 7 years old though... and 12,9xx does seem kind of high. Not sure about that. I wonder what the the boat went for when it was new.

Try posting at baylinerownersclub.org's forums to check what some of the other bayliner owners paid for thier '00 2050's. I have a '91 2050 with the 305 V8 and I love it.

Good luck and let us know if you get it!!

I think new ones are 25Kish. It probably sold for 21-23K in 2000. Allot depends on area, for used resale. It is half way through the season, too. I'd try to get another 2K off that price. Deduct more if it is salt water boat. Dose it have any bow, bimini, mooring, or travel covers that come with it?

Even though it looks clean, check it over with a fine tooth comb. Make sure the floor has no weak spots.

Go over the hull like you were waxing it for the first time. Mark any scratches through gelcoat. Have them fix them all. Find a blister, walk away.

Have the exhaust manifolds been replaced yet? If saltwater, getting overdue. Also drive bellows is getting close. When was last impeller change? Full tune-up?

Check the vynel for cracking and wear. White is hard to see in photos.

Make sure the single axle trailer has brakes. Boat weighs too much for no brakes. Probably want to have a mid-size pick-up or SUV for towing this boat. Something with 5K or better ttowing capacity.

Read the 60-day warrantee. Each dealer makes their own and understand what is covered and what is not.

Oh, and of course, take a test drive with the whole family. It should perform and handle well, but make sure it is up to your expectations. Also monitor all gauges during the test drive and listen for "odd" noises. Like growling from the back of the engine.

Good luck. It is best to spend lots of time, etc before you lay down the cash.

PS: Another happy 2050 owner. A '97 with 5.7L.

I bought a new Bayliner 205 (2050) in 2004. Total cost was 21K (Boat, Trailer with brakes, Freight, Prep and Coast Guard Pack). Had the following upgrades:

5.0L Mercruiser (220HP)
Fiberglass Liner (Floor)
Snap-In Carpet
Convertible Top with Side Curtains (Full Canvas)
Bow Well Cover

The boat has been great. We do a lot of watersports and it performs well. The fiberglass liner is great. The carpet has not been in the boat since I bought it.

The price of the boat you are considering does not sound too bad assuming the boat has been taken care of, is "clean", does not look abused, fresh water use and the 60 day warranty covers "bumper-to-bumper" or at least covers 100% mechanical.

Good Luck!
