my grand father was a mad fisherman.
many years later his two grandsons who also enjoy fishing have landed their first boat.
Ok well a wreck but we are hard at work. we have pulled out the floor, replaced the stringers, firbreglassed a new floor in and now its engine time.
engines are not our sting suit.
firstly it does go. had it serviced but the guy was very vauge, started it saw in running then ushered us off.
havent tried it myself at home need a battery.
question one i read the stick not wanting to post old questions and one sticky i thought was gong to help a long way. it had a link to a pdf manual but unfortunately the link is now dead.
I read a post explaining how to find serial number. i foulnd the number which si 9517820 and the cowling cover says mercury 50 oil injected. one sight tells me its a 3 cylnder 1988 model (accoreding that serial number) if any could confirm or correct that, that would be a start.
Assuming that is correct the link that is dead is for a 1965-89 40-115hp mercury maunal. its in the first sticky.
if anyone has a pdf copy of that, that would be a great place to read up for us to get aquainted with this engine.
he boat is a 15ft half cabin savage (year unknown) do you think the 50hp is to weak too strong or just riht for this size boat?
