Hi everyone. My wife and I are thinking about buying an Intex Excursion 5.

http://www.intexcorp.com/boats_lake_excursion.html

I know it's not much compared to the boats most people here have but we aren't even sure how much we're going to use it and we have to have an inflatable because we can't transport anything else.

So I guess I'm wondering if the raft is capable of:

1. Fishing close to shore in a large but calm lake

2. Taking down a gentle river for an overnight camping trip

3. My wife paddling along next to me for safety reasons while I try to do some long distance (500m-1km) swimming.

Of course at all times we won't do anything stupid and will have lifejackets onboard for everyone.

If anyone has any experience paddling/owning one of these or any tips I'd love to hear them.

Thanks!

This looks like a toy I would buy a used quality inflatable for about the same price. Some thing with a transom:)

Thanks for the info. I saw the sevylor before but didn't know they made one that large. Since you actually have one and you're happy with it I'd say the small price difference is well worth it.

I do have a habit of going overboard (no pun intended) with my projects. If we like it and are able to make time to use it the availability of accessories will be great.
