I have just aquired a pair of 99 Saltwater OX66 225's on my new to me Pursuit 2870. The engines have 698 and 700 hours on them. The boat has been sitting for a while but I filled both tanks (118 gallons EACH :facepalm
added 1 oz per 10 gallons of ring free and ran her. Both engines have been running very well pushing the loaded (over 1000 lbs of fuel too) boat to 52 to 54 mph on the GPS until this weekend.
I noticed that the idle had dropped on the port motor from about 600 to about 400 and was a little rougher. I have a VERY long no wake before I can get on plane. I ran the port motor only at about 1200 rpm until it was time to get on plane. I let the Starboard motor warm up and Went. The starboard motor ran good at about 4000 rpm. The port motor started going from 3300 to 4100 and back. I could feel the power surge when it "came on". On the way back The port motor just would not make power. At full throttle I could not get above 37 mph and the port motor never went above 4000 rpm. The starboard ran at 5100 to 5200. (normally both run at 5400 at 50+ mph)
What I have done
I replaced both racor filters
I cleaned (didnt have anything on it) the sight glass filter on the engine.
I replaced the port spark plugs.
I did a compression test on the port motor and it seemed to do well.
Top 101-----98
Mid 99-----103
Bottom 100-----95
It still seems to be running rough and not making power.
What should I check next?
