Was itching to get a boat and came across this one a couple months ago. It only cost me $350, so I did expect to do a little work. Contiplated for a few minutes until my sane self came back on whether to just put new plywood on the ones that was rough looking. So of course it came up only to see the stringers are half rotten and foam soaked. So I have been doing some demo to get the foam out and the 800lb gorrilla in the back got me. Yep the transom needs ALOT of work/replacement.

Now a question I have is should I just replace the wood stringers in the fiberglass by cutting the tops off and trying to dig them out, or can I just take it all out to put the new stringers in.

More to come when the time and money allows.

Probably the only way is to completly remove the stringers and replace them totally.Remove any and all cancer. It's quite a job and the transom is even worse. But the end result would put it back to a solid unit.I've done a bass boat this way and it was a ton of work.Replaced transom, stringers with fiberglass gel, matt then glass and resin.Turned out solid. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

I'm going to move this to the resto forum where you'll get better fiberglass help.
