New to me 85 force questions

I have just purchased an 85 force that I will probably be installing on a 16.5 ft MFG . Questions.
1. Where do I find the model # ? I have looked everywhere.
2. How long should it take for the thermostat to open? The first few times I started with muffs it took about 2 min for the water to start flowing thru the 2 ports in back. I started it earlier today and it seemed like it did not want to open up so I shut it down. The po said the impeller was changed about 2 years ago so I assume it should be replaced.
3. When starting cold it will backfire a couple of times then it starts with no backfire when the motor is warm it fires right up. What would cause this?
4. I really want to learn how to service the motor myself at least the easy stuff. Where can I get a manual?

Anyway I still have not found the model# plate. Here are some pics.

With no plate is there another way to find model#

If the ID plate is not on the transom bracket the pics will some answers.

look for numbers stamped one the block. might be hard to see but there there.. thats how i found mine.. when u find then just google the number and it will tell u what year they put it on.. looks like late 80s to me..

look at the numbers on your carbs i can see them in the carb pic but cant make them out google the number and bamb u will have it

The number on the carbs is 631061-2 The block was hard to read but I think it was L-242339 . Motor mount bracket 48685532 63-2
I tried to google the block # but didn't have much luck. I'm not sure what site to go into..

my model number on my 1985 is located just under the air intake for the carbs right where the gas line and cables come through the front of the engine,as far as water flow you won't get good flow out of them untill its the the lake muffs won't give enough water volume to work right also mine does backfire or miss when starting cold but its been doing it for about 12 years now with no ill affects.

Thanks so much for your help jd ! I really appreciate it now I can start looking for an impeller..

Eight tracker, good to no the backfire isn't a problem. I'm going to try and set the foot in a drum and see if it makes a difference on the water flow..
