Hello all - I just brought home a new-to-me 86 Capri with a 85hp Force outboard. We hope to take it out this weekend for a quick trip around Belleville Lake. This winter will be cleanup and refreshing the interior before our big trip down to Lake Cumberland next summer.

I look forward to learning from everyone on these boards.

Welcome to the forums. I haven't been here long either but the short time that I have..I've learned everything you need to know about your boat is here.
I own an 89 Capri that I will be working on this winter as well. New floor, seats, windshields, etc.

Re: New to me 86 Capri 1600

Outstanding! Another 1600 on the forum! I picked up a 1600 Cuddy Cabin in 2007 and have been slowly modifying it to suit my needs. A really great little boat. The 1600 was available in a Bow Rider and Cuddy Cabin models, they both used the same hull, just the cap was changed and seat placement is a few inches different between them.

So which do you have? Cuddy or Bow rider?

One nice thing about the 1600's is they used a progressive stepped deep V hull. So it can cut the rough water and still ride smooth. Rather unusual hull design in such a small boat. The 85 hp Force should get the boat up to about 40 mph with just one or two passengers with a 19 pitch prop (that's what came on it). Boat and motor weigh about 1100 for the Bow Rider, and 1190 for the Cuddy.

You can see the projects on my boat by taking the link in my signature below.

Welcome to the forums and Bayliners!

I have the bowrider model. We're really looking forward to taking it out next season. This winter, we're going to repair the interior doing some minor repairs to the trailer.

Here is a link to the 1984 1600 Capri Bow Rider and CC sales brochure pages. Thought it might help you with some of the interior work. The pictures don't show a lot, but it does have some good info on your boat. Even though its the 1984 brochure, the boats didn't change much by '86.
