I just bought a used aluminum fishing boat with a 1995 electric start Mercury 30HP outboard. The motor is in pristine condition, starts right away and runs strong.<br /><br />Having owned nothing more sophisticated than an old Johnson 9.9. I never even winterized that thing. I just threw it in the shed in fall and it ran great for 20 years.<br /><br />So my question to the Merc experts - anything to watch for with this motor? The seller made me promise to use premium Mercury gear oil and to watch out for clogging of the upper water outlet. Anything else?
