A friend just upgraded his instruments on his 37-footer and he kindly donated his Horizon MD 100 Mutli & WS 100 Wind instruments so I can use on my much smaller Mirage sailboat. Manuals aren't online, but I know how to use them.
Here's my questions about the multi (speed & depth) unit:
1) Comes with a combined speed, water temp tube with a receiver tube that presumably gets drilled and mounted through the hull... makes sense, but I'm actually thinking of mounting it off the transom so I don't have to a drill a hole through my hull (no holes in it now ? why ask for trouble?) will that idea work?
2) Depth sounder comes with about a 2 inch thick transducer... I have an existing transducer on my transom for an older (lowrance) depth sounder that has a bad screen. Is it likely that the older transducer will work with this newer rig? Are transducers pretty similar or are they manufacturer/model specific?
