Hey guys I just upgraded from a 2000 25hp merc to a 2000 50 hp johnson.(j50plssm) The guy upgraded to a 100 so he sold me this one but because he bought another Johnson he retained the controls and the battery wires and the oil tank.

where is the best place to get a decent control box that has the throttle cable and plug for the tnt on the lever?

WHAT kind do I need to get the full function out of the outboard? doesnt have to be pretty its for a fishin jon boat.

I need battery cables as well

The oil tank is gone should I get a new tank or get rid of the the vro business and just premix.

Thanks in advance I really appreciate it

You can get the controls here on Iboats. Teleflex makes a really good control sysytem (either top mount or side mount) that will handle your TnT as well. As far as the VRO goes, I would get a new tank and go with it. Years ago they weren't always as reliable as they are now. Still lot's of boaters don't trust them, but, I think it's a reliable system.

The control you picked does come with cables and the TnT control is an option. The VRO tank will need the sending unit and hose.

without the vro tank is it possible just to cap where the line goes in and just run a premix in the oil or would that make it run funny?

Yes, Plug the oil inlet, pre-mix @ 50:1, and you are good to go.

Thanks again
why do some ppl delete it than? Like I said Im totally green when it comes to this. I just dont want to screw up a new engine. I could buy a tank but its cheaper not to plus on my little jon boat there isnt much more room for stuff

Some boaters simply don't trust the VRO system. Pre-mixing your own fuel/oil is a sure bet that your motor is getting oil it needs.

With the control box I have listed above do I need an engine harness or does it come with one what is the engine harness for shouldnt the engine have one already or is it to make the box be able to turn the engine on. Im so lost :confused::confused:
