new to me Merc 8

Well I ended up with the kicker I posted about the other day. The marine store he took it to (to get a look at the no spark issue)was kind enough to tear the carb all down and throw the parts in a baggie. I dont know what no spark has to do with the carb, but maybe thats how it is done in the bizz? I got every thing back together , but I aint smart enough to know where the jet screws in. I looked it over a long time and stil could not figure it out. Any body know off the top of your head?

So on to the no spark deal. Red on/off toggle was not moving up and down right and I wiggled it around and it finally broke. Unfortunately this before i tried testing for spark. But anyway, as it is now the thing has gobs of spark.

Any ideas on the jet location

Todd not trying to be a jerk but for testing of the system for spark and reassm of the carb you really need a manual the place the had the engine was a bunch of jerks or they would have reassm the carb, it was thier mistake it don't say much for their abilities if the can't ck for fire without tearing a carb apart.

You are right. I do need a manual. Problem is, I am cheap! I do not want to mess up any of the ignition by screwin with it. I will look for manual tomorrow.

What is reasonable price for a good manual. Are Chilton,Clymer, or Haynes manuals less desirable than a merc manual if they are available.

The best and most expensive is Mercury, the rest are about the same ck with your local auto parts store if you have a discount most stores around here stock them or can get them overnight
