Hello :) I just picked up a 2006 bass tracker 175 txw and it has a 2006 60hp efi Mercury. I took it out for the first time today. It idles fine and when not in gear it would rev up just fine. Under load it wouldn't plane. It wouldn't get over 4K rpm and just ran crappy under load. After giving it full throttle for a few seconds the engine just died and wouldn't start back up. I was stranded.
I started tinkering while we was trolling back and I found that one of the ignition fuses were bad. I replaced it and as soon as I turned the key on the fuse blew again. I was tracking wires and they all looked good except where the plug goes into the coil. One of the pins were burnt pretty bad. So I replaced the fuse and left it unplugged from the coil and turned on the key and the fuse didn't blow. But as soon as I plugged it back into the coil the fuse blew. Can a coil have that bad of a short in it? So bad it will burn wires?
Anyways I seen some service bulletins for these coils. Which ones do I get. I keep seeing posts about "the coils have been upgraded to a new part number". What's the number? Lol
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Don't blame the ethanol, Merc supplied crappy fuel line for years, it was cheap Chinese junk that dissolved when in contact with E-10. No fuel line supplied since 1990 should have a problem with E-10.
