Hi guys

i have just bought a Ring 18 powerboat with a black max 200 mercury outboard.

its been in a barn for a couple of years - so nice and dry and just very dusty.

are the 200hp mercurys any good? any know faults or tips guys please?

and on a "better safe than sorry" tack, what do i need to do before running it. is it just the basics ie fuel and filters, oil, leg oil and impeller?

can you buy workshop manuals for outboards - if thats not a stupid question?

any idea what idle and WOT rpm need to be please?

cheers in advance

adam

Sorry .You have asked a question that needs to be asked in another forum where there are knowledgeable boat mechanics.....you will find very very few of them here.

Those motors are a standard design, very popular and very good. The question was whether it was winterized before storage. If not, the fuel in the motor turns to varnish and will clog the carbs.

There is a thread on "Waking a sleeping OB". it makes for good advice.
