Hi everyone, my wife & I just bought a pontoon 50hp and we found out at the end of the summer last year we weren't allowed to take it to the lake we planned to as they don't allow boats with engine sizes over 25. Does anyone know of places for us to take it in Maryland or southern PA?
Thanks so much!!

Hello fellow upper Chesapeake boaters....welcome to the forum!

I'm going to assume you have a trailer so since you are Baltimore-based, my suggestions are towing to the following ramps:

1. Cox's Point Park, located on Back River
2. Inverness Park, located on Bear Creek
3. Merritt Point Park, located on Bull Neck Creek
4. Rocky Point Park
5. Southwest Area Park on the Patapsco River
6. Wilson Point Park, located on Dark Head Creek
7. Mariner Point Park in Joppatowne

Baltimore County Md. Recreation and Parks - Boat Ramps

These areas give you access to the waters near Hart/Miller Island....great boating, swimming and fishing. Have fun!

Also, there are numerous marinas nearby to keep your boat at as storage and launch or maintain a slip.

...be careful out there on windy days. On those kind of days, we pontoon well off the Chesapeake to avoid all those large waves. But those calm days are gold!

I hear Deep Creek in Western MD is a good boating spot. I live in York, PA. Allot of people toon in the Susquehanna river near the dams, but i have never tried either place. We boat in the Poconos on Lake Wallenpaupack

Re-decal your engine cowling from 50hp to 25hp.

I was on a 10HP max lake 2 years ago. I saw a lot of large motors, looked like 40HP to me, but they were clearly labeled 9.9HP. Just sayin
