Hello All
I recently aquired a 1958 14 ft Mirro Craft, Highlander trailer and Johnson RDS-23, 40 Hp motor. They were last in the water 3 years ago and ran strong from what I am told. Since I am new to boating I was wondering if this forum can answer some questions for me. What is the correct fuel/oil ratio for this motor and what type of oil should I use?

Howdy, JJC.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Use a 50:1 mix of 87 octane unleaded and any TC-W3 certified outboard oil.

I don't know about the 50:1. That's a 1961 Big Twin, there, and I believe OMC had those at 24:1 until 1964. Maybe you know something I don't in that regard, though.
