How's it going hope everyone had a nice christmas! Well ill give you a little back ground I'm born and raised on Knotts island nc been duck hunting and fishing the Currituck sound my whole life. Always owned 19ft polar kraft big john's and I love them but I finally beat my last one to death unfortunately and couldn't find another one around my area so I started looking and found the 21 mariners and fell in love. Finally found the one in northern va and decided to go scoop it up last week. She does awesome in the 2 1/2 - 3 ft sound chop which is great being that I do alot of deep water float blinding and need a boat that can take it. It's powered with a 175 evinrude fuel injected motor and has a new floor and transom. These pics are when I picked it up all the leaves and stuff is out of it now. Getting rid of that monster console if anyone is wondering lol. Looking forward to talking to yall on This forum!

Welcome to the Starmada! Thanks for supplying pics on your very 1st post...we didn't even have to beg! :thumb:

Nice boat! Beast of a motor right there! eTec's predecessor. Prior owners were river fisherman...probably alot of BIG bluecats slammed their tails on her deck!

That console is massive...provides alot of dry storage. Unless you plan on tearing-up the "new" deck, it's very difficult to swap-out consoles without it looking hacked...that is unless the previous restorer thought ahead and put down conduits for all of the control cables/wires.

Some reading material: StarCraft Rebuilds and Restorations.

Once you read a few rebuilds, double check the PO's handy-work...Transom material, thickness, make sure the "new floor" isn't simply carpeted PLYwood over a rotten deck...and check for adequate floatation.

It sounds like you've had it out...was there any water in the bilge?

thanks for the quick reply. the guy i bought this boat from was VERY miticulous when he re did the floor and transom. marine ply wood with 3 coats of wes system applied then wrapped with the carpet, he went back with a single cell foam for floatation ( which im not to found of) but at least he laid a thin sheet of lexan over the ribs to garuntee the bildge free of obstruction. Back to answering the question not it does not leak a drop, i ran it a round trip of about 30 miles the other day and was constantly flipping the bildge switch ( beacuase like i said ive always had aluminum boat and they all leak a little lol) finally my buddy looked at me and said " what do you want this thing to leak" haha. when he re rigged the boat he supplied a bowmar hatch under the consoule for rigging to run aft, and also the chair behind the console is bolted to a hinged section of the floor to acess the rigging alley. I run pilot boats and have been around all sorts of boats for a long time some better then others needless to say i was very impressed with this mans work!

Hey bliver - I flip my pump on all the time. It's a tinny thing, for me anyway. :)

Welcome to the TinFest! :welcome: That is a huge CC and O/B, as shown with pics your first post. We'll let you stick around. :D

Hope switching to a smaller console is painless for you, it all depends on how the PO rigged it. When you start digging, you'll find out. Have lotsa fun with her! :joyous:

Nice Mariner, hope the transom & floor are solid.

You should fly with that 175, thought the Mariner's were rated at 140.

Good luck trading consoles, I'll be watching.

Welcome to the site.

Welcome to The House of Tin Kustoms. My buddy just picked up a 16' Mariner. I like it. A 21 footer sounds like a sweet boat.

Good luck,
Bwana Don

Ours does 38/40 mph at WOT with a 90 and the family of 4. A 175 should be
