well I finally got me an aluminum pontoon :D

It has twin electric out drives on the back of the toons. These things are sweeeeet!

I'm going to take it out to the lake Monday to take it for a spin.

I'm working on a 90hp outboard to put on the back. That should move this thing nicely down the lake

Congratulations on the new toon. I'm sure you will get many hours of fun and relaxation with her.

Personally, I don't use any special cleaner my toons because I never get any growth on them. Many years ago, I tried keeping them shiny but soon realized that the shine would not last long. My toons always look good, just not shiny. There are a couple of acid based cleaners that others will recommend and you can find with a search.

Re: new toon pic

Is your toon rated for a 90hp motor? if not don't put one on it.

Re: new toon pic

Is the rating based on the size of the toons? or the thickness of the transom?

Can my transom be extended to make it taller? the measurements look like when on the trailer the motor would be very close to the ground.

can I just put a taller piece of transom wood in place? ( say 6'' )

there should be a coast guard plate attached to your side rails that has the legal number of people, weight , and HP the toon is rated for.
I have a 90 on my 24 Party Barge, it's rated 125hp. however, the toon has a built in speed. by that I mean, if you put a 90hp on it and it runs 25mph, putting a 150hp wont nessasarily speed the boat up much. at some point it will begin to plow through water and hold back the larger motor. I went 20mph with a merc 60hp, I burn it up so replaced it with a 90 hp. picked up very little speed, once I get to 25mph, I have more throttle left but it begins to spray water as it tries to go faster.
