New Trim Motor or Pump issue

I bought an1989 Baja 190 Sport with a 4.3 Merc.
I just installed a new trim pump and filled with fluid. When holding the trim up switch in it only runs about 5 seconds and stops,. When I hold trim down it will stay on long as I hold the switch in.

I am now charging bthe battery thinking it may be low?

Ideas?

If the motor stops after 3 sec you either have a bad connection or a bad trim motor. trim motors use 2 windings 1 up , 1 down

You have two threads for the same issue, and the OB section is not the place
