New trouble with Fastwin

I ran my 68 Evinrude in test barrel and was getting a lot of smoke and a gray oily crud in the water in barrel. What could be causing this?

Smoke and gray, oily crud are what 2 stroke outboards make, mfbear.

When you run it in a tank it all stays there, concentrated in one place. When you run it on the lake it spreads out in a thin haze and film behind the boat and you don't notice it.

Bottom line, it is normal.

Thanks JB. I just checked the lower unit oil and found I had water in it. I rebuilt the lower unit two years ago must have messed something up so I'll have to go through again.

Did you replace the seals when you rebuilt the lower unit?
