New Volvo 4.3 Starting question

Hello! I am new to boating, and a proud new owner of a 2008 Chaparral 180 ssi. It has a 4.3 Volvo Penta sterndrive (190 hp). I keep it docked in the water, and have started and ran it every 2-3 days for the past 2 weeks. It is still in the "break-in" period (has about 5 hours now).
The engine runs like a charm, but I have had to "throttle down" on the engine when starting it the first time for the day- it wont start just by turning the ignition. Once I get it running, it will restart just by turning the ignition.
I read through the volvo owners manual, which says that this is normal. But I wanted to get some other opinions on this. Thanks.

Re: New Volvo 4.3 Starting question

i assume being an '08 motor is fuel injected. if so, no, this isn't normal. fuel injected motors should start by just turning the key. carb motors sometimes need a little help, but a boat this new shouldn't have any issues already. might have a marine shop check it out. did you get a warranty?

Being a 190hp engine I will assume its caburated. If thats the case, yes you need to pump the throttle on the first start up of the day.
