Good day, Happy Easter.
I bought a new Water Heater to replace my old one.
The old Water Heater had a Back Water Valve located on the Cold Inlet.
Do I have to install one on my new Heater at the same location ?
Thanks

Happy Easter to you and yours too. That inlet water valve is installed so you can shut off the inlet water when working on the water heater. If you remove it, then if you have any problems down the road, you will have to shut off the water to the entire house while you fix or replace the next water heater. Your call... I'd install it back if it were me...

Re: New Water Heater replacement

gm280, thanks for your reply. I was not clear enough in my question.
My Old Water Heater Tank needs to be replaced. It included a Anti Water Return Valve on the Cold Inlet.
At the same time I will replace the Old Jabsco Diaphragm Water Pump and I think this Old Pump did not include a Anti Water Return Valve in it. My new Jabsco Water Pump is build with a Anti Water Return Valve in it.
Because there is a Anti Water Return Valve in my new Jabsco Pump, Do I still need to add a Anti Water Return Valve on my New Water Heater Tank cold Inlet ?
Thanks

Re: New Water Heater replacement

Okay after your latest reply, I understand what you are saying. There is no need for both anti backflow valves so you can remove the original (old) one and leave the new one with the new heater. That way you know it will work good...

Re: New Water Heater replacement

OK gm280 I will not install an Anti Backflow Valve on my new Water Heater Tank since my new Jabsco Water Pump already have one and there is no need to have 2. Like you wrote, it will work good (less restriction)
thanks again,
I Appreciate your help

Re: New Water Heater replacement

If you start getting hot water flowing back into your cold when you turn your cold water on you may need it. Personally, I would contact the manufacturer and ask them. It has been awhile since I had a boat with a hot water heater on it.

GM280, you think he is installing this on a house?

Re: New Water Heater replacement

Thanks Bruceb58. My New Heater Tank is a West Marine Kuuma 6 gal. I contacted them and they suggest to put a Back Flow Valve
on the Cold Inlet. And I will do it.
Thank You All
