I resealed my water jacket cover with RTV know I have no water coming from pee hose. I just installed new water pump earlyer in the day and tested then noticed water at #5 and #6 plug holes. I removed cover and old gasket, put a very carefully placed bead of rtv down and know nothing. I removed the 1/8" pipe plug in the middle of the cover and started, stream of water shot out about 8ft. I think some silicone may have gotten into the small port for the pee hole. my question is if I take it to the lake for a test run like it is will I hurt it? I will get the correct gasket and clean out the port. I just want to put the motor thru some lake testing to see what else may creep up. the motor sat for 15 yrs in storage. it is a 1973 150hp merc

That's a loaded question. If I say go for it and it blows you're going to be really mad. So instead I'll just tell you to order your gasket and fix the problem then take it to the lake.

I understand your position, however maybe I should ask the question a little different. If the tatle-tale is plugged and waterpump is working fine will it hurt anything or dose use that to releave pressure or will it just dump the excess water out the prop as dose already?

I don't know the water circuit for your engine that well. Not sure exactly where the tell tale is in the circuit. If you can't remove the tell-tale fitting at the block and clear the problem then you've potentially blocked flow to critical areas.
