Good Evening. Tomorrow I get to pick up my new windows. As it turns out it was more cost effective to just go ahead and replace all 4. 140.00 for 2 vs. 200.00 cash for all four. I was concerned about having 2 different colored pieces of glass to begin with. The weather stripping is impossible to locate and I am beyond it. My question is... what product should be used where the glass will meet the aluminum framework, and also what should be the sealant used to glaze the glass in from the outside. My thought for the outside was a white urethane, my Father says Im nuts and it should be clear silicone. I really do not like the way silicone ages Good quality urethane has aged well for me in the past. Thank you.

Hi Clinton,

I for one would need more details... What style of windows? Also what type/manufacturer? Is it actual glass? When you do get the windows could you send some pics?

Re: New windshield and side windows

After a post the other day, acrylic was suggested and Lexan was also given a thumbs up. The material is 1/4" flat acrylic, The company doing the job specializes in this and say they make most boat replacements from this material. He also suggested a standard windshield black sealant for the frame side, and urethane for the outside. That is of course after cleaning a couple decades of crud from the frame.Just not really sure what the standard black sealant is for windshield replacement on the aluminum side of the glass. Is this available in a standard caulking tube? where would you find it? The urethane I like is 3m white marine, but again dad says clear silicone. Thank you

forget the silly cone.

it breaks down in a marine enviroment.....sikkaflex if you want that route.....but standard window sealant will work....call a auto glass shop and see if they will sell you some.....or even have them install it.
