i bought a 1961 evinrude 40hp lark-model no 35524-the wiring harness was cut about 18 inches from motor and all wires left dangling-and all were red(previous repair)-i went further back and found original wires about12 inches from motor-i have a junction box but no regulator or solenoid and no keyswitch-i've studied the wiring and have bought new solenoid and keyswitch along with proper guage and wire color-here are my naive questions-can i isolate the generator wires and use a trickle solar charger for now?the temp warning light-can i also isolate this and not use it temporarily?or should i buy a temp warning light and use it-my boat was stripped of all wiring and is starting new-guages and all-are there any forseen problems i should be aware of?thanx for all info in forum-
