Greetings,
Thanks for your patience for probably simple questions. First new four stroke and want to make sure she is cared for properly. Used to my 25HP 2-stroke whick at 17 years old still runs great. I live in Central Florida. Time for the first oil change, went to dealer and he gave me 20W40 oil. Owners manual recommends 10W30 & 10W40 and only shows a temp. chart where 20W40 is shown. Yamaha website shows 20W40 oil and mentions it's for the southern region. Looking at the temperature chart the low doesn't cover how cold it gets in Central Florida. My plan is to change the oil yearly. Is that wrong? I'll put less than 100 hours a year on her. Also how do I verify the amount of oil needed. One spot in the manual shows 3.6L and then another spot mentions 4.4L. Where would a seasoned Yamaha motor owner go to verify information. It's not that I don't trust the dealer but they are human and I want to verify the information they have told me. I'll treat this motor like it's my third child, I want to make sure she is treated right. Hoping to get twenty years out of her as well. Thanks
