we have a 20' aluminum bowrider (merc 140 IO) that we dry store on the trailer at the marina. we just mounted our 9.9on the transom - it will be used as our trolling motor.
my husband had the same setup on his last boat and said he used to keep the 6gal gas tank stored on the boat and that most people with an outboard do the same. i am afraid that the fumes will collect under the canvas cover and we will be blown to canada! we have our massager also taking care of our two onboard batteries - again is this a risk? all equipment has been tested and I see other guys doing this. but i still haven't jumped off that cliff my mom always mentioned to as a kid...
also curious about how you lock the outboard to the boat? do you cover the motor to protect it?
I'd hate to have to remove most of the components to lug back and forth each time we go out - may as well store the boat at home... BUT i would hate to be unsafe and stupid. that is always a recipe for disaster.
