Newbie buying a 1989 220 OV

Hello all, completely new to this boating scene but very determined to get on the water and not in it. Anyone got any comments about the above boat, what to check etc? Its got the 4.3Mercruiser engine with approx 850hrs on it, what life time do these engines have?

I would not suggest buying a boat with that many hours unless you plan on putting some money in it in the next year or two.
Look for something with less than 300 hours.

Don't know what your budget is but I bought my 1988 seville with 250 hours for $4200

Thanks for the reply, my budjet is about 10-11,000 euro, thats about $14,000 and the boat is advertised for this amount. Been looking at US web sites and boats are a way cheaper over there, its just shipping to the UK would cost about 4000euro, another 2000 to get it to Ireland and another 2000 in taxes, duty etc.
