Hiya
Been looking around and found some helpful info on here so I thoght Iwould ask a few questions and hopefuly get some suggestions.

I just bought an 89 Bayliner with a 89 85hp Force on it. The guy said it set all summer due to the floor being replaced. What would you suggest doing to it before running it all summer? Also am I right to say that when the motor is idle (with hose pipe and ears attached) that water is suppose to come out the 2 holes on back motor? If it isnt then its prob impeller or pump? Thanks

Re: Newbie here

It wont come out unless the engine is running, and then not for awhile, it will have to warm up some first!! Id replace the water and fuel pump along with the primer bulb just so I knew where I stood from the start!

Welcome to the board! Youll find lots of great guys here willing to help!!

Re: Newbie here

To add to LubeDudes good advice, I believe I would replace the entire fuel line assembly, for the simple fact it deteriorates inside as well, and is peace of mind. Might want to squirt a little oil in the cylinders before turning it over, and install new plugs....
EDIT: errr, if you've already run it, disregard last transmission on oil in the cylinders..

If the guy put it away right he used fogging oll. That stuff will smoke a lot before it is finally burned off.

Re: Newbie here

If the engine is not in the water, I doubt you will see any water coming out of the 2 holes in the back of the motor, but once the thermostat has opened up, you WILL see water coming out the exhaust.

Just like a car, it usually takes several minutes for the engine to warm up and the thermostat to open.

If it sat all year, it's entirely possible that he ran it for at least a year on the current impeller, and then it sat for a year, which means the impeller is 2 yrs old, and due for a replacement whether it was run or not.
