Agreed. She hits water tomorrow then in her slip and then off on the maiden voyage the next day at 9am Sharp. :) This has been a 10 year in the making. Always wanted to get a boat and finally just pulled the trigger. Just can't wait. :)

Re: Newbie here.

Hey Spike, congrats on the new boat. I boat out in the raritan and offshore regularly. Definitely check out some local sites in for tide charts and marine weather. The raritan can get pretty snotty on the turn of a dime. Not sure what size that boat is, just something to keep in mind. My last trip I went out on a sheet of glass, only to come back in a nasty boil of 4-6' breakers all over the SH tip just 3 hours later.

Congratulations, on the new boat, I bought my 185 in 2007 from a friend; I?ve always imagined mine looked that sweet in 2005. Good luck with her and happy boating.

Thanks JZ. I saw your post about taking your boat in the bay. Did you ever do that? How did that work out? Thinking of hitting the Raritan bay up here next year.

Nice boat! You also are starting it out right, with pictures to capture the event with your son. These are the kinds of pictures he will enjoy most when he reaches manhood. I'm sure there will be plenty more pictures over the next decade or two. Congrats.....

Sweet.

Man, how can you actually use that thing? It's so shiny! Haha... I always wondered what it'd be like to have a boat that shiny and new. Good pics!

I love the dash/gauge cluster and those vents under the engine cover above the swim deck. Little things add character.

Happy boating!

I finally did and I was real careful, Delaware Bay can snap up storms quickly, we hugged the coastline and went towards Lewes Beach swimming area and just drifted. The second adventure I was introduced to 2' swells, I enjoyed them rocking her, my 7 year old love it too, my wife warmed up to them a couple hours later.

JZ maybe I'll have to meet you out there one day. :) Any pointers on your 185 as we pretty much have the same boat different years?

Philster, I do like the Stainless steel exhaust vents in the back. I think it was a nice touch.

Here is another pic of the interior dash and of course my oldest son:

Re: Newbie here.

Thank you. Maybe when my truck is paid off I can think about getting the new or newer Bayliner.

It isnt what she has tought me it is what she will teach me. I haven't picked her up yet. I am still deployed and will be coming home on R&R in a few days to take a look at what might be my new to me Bayliner.

She has to pass the inspection though Transom mechanical and lake test she is currently in the shop getting a mechanical once over done on her to prep for my inspection prior to the purchase.

She is a 1989 Bayliner Capri 1900 merc 3.0 motor with an OMC cobra outdrive. She has a bad spot on the floor but the hull is in great shape the owner has kept her covered and maintained since he owned it.

She's a beauty! Enjoy her with your family, and teach that kid to ski as well as fish!

So many times Bayliners have been dragged through the mud on so many sites, yet how many families have been able to get out on the water in an economical manner because of Bayliners? Anyone ever thought about that?

Re: Newbie here.

Thank you It's a job and someone has to do it. I appreciate your sentiment.

I have tried to do as much as I can form here. The guy who owns the boat seems to be completely honest with me to the point of telling me what shop he has taken the boat to.

The owner from the start shared with me that the boat may be a bit of a project boat for me. $2000 for a boat with a good transom and a good running well maintained tuned motor and drive I think is pretty good especially if I can temporarily patch the floor and reupholster or replace the seats get a few seasons out of her before having to do some major repair. If she is in good enough shape I just might add a swim platform to her.

I don't want to hijack your thread and take the joy out of you and your excitement of owning your Brand new Bayliner. Congrats again and Have loads of fun with her. Have you come up with a name for her yet?

I have always for some reason been a fan of Bayliners. I guess because I have been around them most of my boating life (Friends with boats). All of the friends that I know that have owned a boat have always taken great care of them and enjoyed them very much.

You should check out the Why did you buy your Bayliner thread on here.

Pretty good reading about people who Love their Bayliners. You should also check out the Bayliner Owners Club as well.

Nice boat! I recognize that dealership...we looked there last October...they had some nice Glastrons outside, but I didn't see any Bayliners (other than the 1987 outside...but it was entirely too big for our car).

Also, when boating this area, don't forget about the Delaware river....it's my favorite place to boat. :)
