Newbie,,i know i am an idiot but need help with fluids !!

don't hate, most of you are extremely helpful. Just became a Regal 1997 2100 LSR owner,,going to take it out our for first run tomorrow on the lake, its in good shape,,i didn't ask previous owner enough questions,,so,,i know i sound like a dummy but i don't know what fluids to use,,if i need to put in motor oil wich one do i use,,oops forgot to mention its a 5.7 ltr mercruiser (thunderbolt something),,it has a small opaque cannister on the left side with some light blue colored fluid,,what is that? and what goes in there,,also there is another fluid reseviour on the right side, looks alot like a car power steering resevoiur,,what goes in there? Love the boat and thanks for any help,,all the fluids look brand new,,the oil is not even dirty,,the guy before me took good care of it, i know the guys at the slip are going to hate me since i can barely back the trailer in a staright line, it took me half an hour just to get it in my enclosed storage space,,yeah !! no other way to learn than to just do it ! thanks again for your patience. As I don't have this style boat and without looking at it I may be wrong but one resevoir should be you power tilt and trim and the other could be your lower unit gear oil. Look for labeling on the resevoirs there should be a label on them. Also a easy way to do it is check and see where the lines go to. if your boat came with a owners manual you may want to read up on it to get more familiar with your new toy. There are no stupid questions. And your not a idiot. You will never learn if you don't ask.

Here is a link to an Owners manual from 2000. It may be a couple of years newer than your boat, but the information on fluids is the same, along with how and where to check them.

Thanks Wrongway1 !!!!!!!!! well i was in a rush to get out there,,as i looked thru the boat i found some oil and gear oil that was used before so I figured it out,,it was a blast, we stayed for a few hours,,anchored and went swimming, mainly it was practice for me, wife and son,,an introduction to boating 101,,it went pretty smooth,,almost lost my anchor but just backed up and went foward a few times and it lossened up,,,i didn't know there was so much work to boating but it is well worth it. Thank you very much for your help !

thanks so m uch for your input, i did figure it out and had alot of fun on our fisrt run,,i was concerned with problems but boat ran fine, my wife was a bit put off cuz when i let her drive she didn't like the fact that the boat nose lifted up and she couldn't see, i told her to hit the throttle so she could get up on plane,,she'll get it with more practice,,getting out of the slip wasn't too bad,,it did take me a few tries cuz i kjept coming in at a bad angle,,i had way more problems putting the boat back in storage,,its a 10x30 unit and not alot of room on either side of boat, iwas there for half an hour back and forth,,jeez! thanks so much,,i look foward to much more boating !!
