So I have a new Harris Flotebote and have a question about trailering it 2 hours away...

One guy at the dealership said tow without the snapon cover attached....it has 5 poles underneath cover as well holding it up

One guy tells m to tow without cover to avod tearing it....

I'm confused...suggestions?

Tow with snapon cover attached and the 5 poles underneath holding it up....

We tow ours with the cover off.... Why take a chance of it ripping. Even bring the bimini top down.

I would think if it is raining you wouldn't be going to the lake anyway.

Make sure everything is secure in the boat....:)

I tow with mine off even though it is made to tow, its just not worth the extra aggravation to have it fixed.

Its good practice to tow with evertthing off. The wind gets seriuous when towing. Everything off, down, well secured.

Generally speaking there's no reason to tow with the cover on. However, it won't hurt to do so on occasion since it's a factory matched snap on cover with five push poles. Just be sure you have the bimini down and secured with the boot on.

I towed across country with the cover on. Always tow with it on unless just going a short a distance. Never had a problem.

Re: Newbie Question about trailering toon....

We just picked up ours this last weekend. Dealer said to tow without the fitted cover. No need to beat it to death and loosen the snaps. Also here's another tip: Make sure your drink holder inserts are secure. If they are loose at all, the wind can suck them out and out they go. Sure enough, we got home after a 1 hr tow, and one was rolling around the carpet, but thankfully it didn't go overboard. Gonna glue them in with a bead of clear silicone before the next trip.

Good Luck

What's interesting is I've seen more than one 'toon recently being towed at 60~mph with the Bimini top in the folded up with boot position however still up but retracted back. I'd think this would not be good for a number of reasons.

I bought a "travel" cover for mine, and in a 1.5 hour trip to the lake, that 600 denier polyester was badly frayed, and the nylon strap loops were ripped right in half.

Unless it is specifically a trailering cover leave it off. Most snap on covers are mooring covers and trailering it will void the warranty.
