First -- I would never buy one of these -- it's on a dingy at a rental lake house. Trying to get it running for the kids.
It's only 2 years old. Looks like new -- runs not so well.
Facts:
Ran well last year.
Started year by draining tank, fuel lines, carburetor so all new fuel in the lines and tank.
20 or 30 pulls till it started. Flooded very easily -- just a slight twist of the throttle would cause it to bog and stall.
Pulled the plug. It looked fine. Did a spark test -- I'd say it was a weak spark but I don't know -- it's not my motor and i'm a car guy not an outboard guy. I was able to get it running and ran it for a 1/2 hour at full throttle around the lake. Prone to stalling if i backed off the throttle.
Thoughts? Carburetor? Ingnition?
Any help appreciated. This is the first time I've ever pulled the cover off an outboard. And it had to be a chinese one...
