Pardon my ignorance about your forum but my predicament is that I have a 1968 100 HP Mercury that needs some lower unit parts or a used lower unit and was wondering if there was a swap or sell allowed here for forum members.

Thank you

Re: Newbie Question

I'm FAIRLY new here too, but I can tell you ppl do trade stuff on here.

Also, not sure what you beleive is the problem, but if it is NOT in the prop shaft, the lower unit is fairly easy to work on and parts are plentiful.

My first reccomendation would be to get a Mercury (official) shop manual so you can identify what is missing. That will give you the part #'s you need, and you can fix it yourself if you are at all mechanically inclined.

If that doesn't appeal to you. IDK where you are, but there are ppl out there that swap for them as cores and give you a rebuilt one. There is at least one company that does it over the internet, but shipping will be pretty high.

Best I could do with what info you provided.

Best of luck to you!

Re: Newbie Question

Mine has a broken main shaft and the housing has been welded before and was really tough to press apart and may be warped. So I am not quite sure in which direction to proceed yet.

Thanks

O.K. It sounds like trash to me. There is a place that advertises here on iboats you could start with. I've just seen there banner ad at the top of the page.

Also, IDK if there is a "trade" newspaper in your area, but you may be able to find one that way. You may find someone with a blown powerhead but good lower.

This is not a "buy/sel/trade" board. It is a forum.

So is it not allowed??? I guess I should ask a different way: Do you mean that the forum is not to be used soley that way? As in posting threads titled WTB, WTS, WTT, etc.
