I have looking at a Sea King outboard that is for sale. How can I figure out the brand from the pictures? It has a white cover with blue. It's a 10 horse.

Re: Newbie question

Those Sea King engines were made by Chrysler or if later than 1984, by Force. Your 10 horsepower is most likely a Chrysler 9.9 and will use all the parts except the cowling. It is from the series of Chrysler engines rated from 9.2 to 15 horsepower. All used the same basic components

Re: Newbie question

It says Montgomery wards on it. The first two numbers are x47 so it must be a 74? How hard is it to get props?

Re: Newbie question

Not difficult at all. Look on the auctions for props to a Chrysler 9.9 or early Force 9.9
