Newbie tune up question.

I just purchased an Evinrude 15hp Model 15904E Serial E0006040, I believe it's a '79 model. It starts and runs good, nice flow of water from the discharge holes, compression check showed approx 110 on each cylinder. I would like to give it a basic tune up just so I know things are okay, I have found the correct plugs/gap info, but what else should be done. I'm a newbie and have never ripped into an outboard before. Any tips or websites to help me on my way are greatly appreciated.

If you don't know when it was last done, install a new impeller. Probably want to do a decarb right away too. Drain and change the LU lube (don't forget to change out the fill/drain washers). Check for any signs of water intrusion in the LU lube when it comes out.

If it''s running fine, I wouldn't touch anything else.

Info on the impeller installation is in the OMC Service manual that you're already searching e-bay for. Right?

something like e-bay Item # 4533753255. I didn't spy a '79 in the 1/2 minute I looked.

You can also go to outboardbooks.com and get a freshly printed one.
